Internet Safety

At Lakey Lane we encourage our children to be confident and competent users of technology whilst emphasising the importance of keeping safe online.

We have extensive security measures in place to help safeguard all pupils from inappropriate content and from Early Years children are taught how to stay safe online. Staff have regular training from our Internet Safety Leader to ensure they are all updated on online safety matters.

The teaching of internet safety is incorporated into our Computing curriculum as well as discreetly taught lessons as part of PSHE. Aspects of e-safety are constantly referred to throughout each Computing unit of work with key points continually reinforced.

We deliver an e-safety curriculum to ensure our children are responsible users of the internet who know how to stay in control.

Key Stage Objectives

Key Stage 1 - To use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private: identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content and contact on the internet or other online technologies.

Key Stage 2 - To use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly: recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact.

Each year we take part in National Safer Internet Day with each class spending a whole afternoon dedicated to ways of staying in control when online. For more information see the 'Special Events' tab.

There are also displays in the ICT suite and throughout school which not only showcase the children's work on e-safety but also act as a permanent reminder of ways to stay safe.

Below is a copy of our school user agreement. These are rules that the children agree to follow when using the internet, school systems and electronic resources.
