Thank you so , so much for your time.
Welcome to SEND support at Lakey Lane Primary School.
Mrs Roberts, SENDCo
My name is Mrs Elizabeth Roberts and I am the SENDCo at Lakey Lane Primary School. I am been at Lakey Lane for over 25 years and have been SENDCo here for the last five years. Prior to that I was the Early Years Phase Leader and I have been a moderator and advisor in Early Years for the local authority.
I am also a mum of two boys and as such can understand the worry that parents feel when their children start school. Understanding what goes on in school can be hard enough, let alone if you feel your child may have some additional / special needs .
If your child has special needs or disabilities they not alone, and our aim is to ensure that they feel nurtured, included and valued in our school. Lakey Lane's ethos is Safe, Secure, Successful . Every child is different and we understand that they may require different approaches to make them feel 'safe' to learn, 'secure' enough to be who they want to be and 'successful' in terms of their own targets, needs and rate of progress.
" Staff at Lakey have supported me in understanding the needs my daughter has. They have seen her for the person she is and not just a label. " Year 3 parent.
Please be assured that I and My Deputy SENDCo Miss Meehan are here to support you through you and your child's time at Lakey Lane. We aim to be available as much as possible to answer any questions you may have or talk through any concerns you may have about your child and their progress. Miss Meehan and I will also help you understand what support is available in and out of school, aswell as explaining the how the local authority makes decisions on what support we can access for your child, should they need it. Please be patient with us. With over 85 children currently on the SEND register, we are busy, but will always aim to answer any queries within a day or two.
Miss Sarah Meehan, Deputy SENDCo
