Lakey Lane's 75th Celebrations!

What a fantastic couple of days we have all had!!! Everybody has had a wonderful time and it was lovely to see some old, familiar faces around the school. We were especially excited to welcome the Lord Mayor into all of our classrooms on Friday morning. The balloons were released as we sang 'Happy Birthday' to our school and well done to all of the children for starting the celebrations with a lovely assembly. We would like to say a huge thank you to parents, staff and local companies who helped make both days a great success. We hope that everybody enjoyed the event and we will be adding photos shortly.

I have recently gained employment in a primary school in Cornwall which has made me think about my primary school which was Lackey Lane. I attended from 1975 to 1981. Mr Davies was my Headteacher, my year 6 teacher was Mrs Lopez, I also remember Mrs Phillips, Miss Hurst, Mrs Morgan and Mr Petford. My grandmother also attended many years before me she is now 84. I did not realise that you have had such a special birthday. Happy days. Sally Truscott nee Stagg.

Hey everyone at Lakey! Miss you all so much. I left in 2011 and I'm nearly now in year 11 (time has flown by). I miss being able to not have any responsibility while I played with zone parc equipment, but now it's all revision and exams. I'm so glad my parents chose Lakey as the school for me and I enjoyed my time there. Hopefully coming to see everyone soon before I go in to year 11! :)

Came across your website. How far back do you want to go?? I was at Lakey Lane School in 1947. The Headmistress was Ms. Freeman, and my first teacher there was Ms. Butwell who gave me a prize which I still have - a book called "The Travels of Perry Winkle". When I left to go to Pitmaston Road seniors my teacher was a Mr. Hinchcliffe. Keep up the good work! Kind regards, Stan Thomas.

Hi I'm Umar (yr 5) & Maryams (yr 1) & Ibrahim(pre school) father - my wife & the kids have just returned from the Saturday event 75th Celebration and we'd just like to say how much we enjoyed it - the stalls , the atomosphere & rides & the weather was great - I'm sure it's been a resounding success and if its a good fundraiser for the school then perhaps Mrs Cockell could consider doing it on an annual basis every July - I'm sure it would get bigger & better every year - just a thought but once again thanks for organising a great day!!

I was a pupil here from 1976 - 1981 and loved every minute of it. I was also a member of the Wind Band (lead by the great Mrs Lopez & Mrs Leeming) and have happy memories of performing carols at local churches / old peoples' homes every Christmas. I also remember getting lost around the Gospel Oak estate each Harvest Time as we delivered hampers of food to OAPs.
